Hey friends, it's Lizzie! A good morning routine sets the tone for your entire day — but it doesn't need to be a 5am ice-bath production. Here's a realistic morning routine that actually makes your 30s feel better.
The realistic version
Forget the intimidating “perfect morning” content. A great routine is just a few simple anchors you can actually keep. Mine takes about 20 minutes and sets me up to feel calm and capable.
My simple morning anchors
- Water before coffee — rehydrate first thing.
- Morning light — 5 minutes outside resets your energy and sleep.
- Move a little — a stretch, a walk, or a quick workout.
- A protein breakfast so you're not starving by 10am.
- One intention for the day — keep it simple.
Protect your first 20 minutes
The single biggest upgrade? Don't grab your phone first. Give yourself even 10–20 minutes before the world floods in — it changes your whole nervous system for the day. Start small, keep it consistent, and let your morning become the calm anchor your busy 30s deserve. 🌅🌴
How to actually build the habit
Start with one anchor, not all five at once — maybe just “water before coffee” for a week. Once that's automatic, stack the next one onto it. Habits build fastest when you attach them to something you already do (coffee, brushing your teeth). Lay things out the night before, keep it stupidly simple, and give yourself grace on the messy mornings.
Make it yours
The “perfect” morning routine is the one you'll actually keep — not someone else's aesthetic 12-step version. If a 20-minute routine feels good, that's a win; some mornings it'll be five minutes and that counts too. The point isn't perfection, it's starting your day feeling calm and in control instead of frazzled. Build the version that fits your real life. 🌅
