How to use these guides
New to training? Start with the sizing and beginner guides, then come back for break-in and care once your gloves arrive. Already kitted out and upgrading? Jump straight to the comparison guides to see whether a step up in gear is actually worth it for the way you train. Every guide here is built from real reps — a decade of kickboxing, sparring, and wearing equipment until it fell apart — so you can skip the trial-and-error I didn’t get to. And wherever a brand I trust offers a discount, you’ll find my verified code inside the guide, so upgrading your kit costs a little less.
Your Questions, Answered
Where do I start if I am new to fight gear? Hand wraps and one pair of all-purpose gloves. That covers your first several months of training.
Do I need different gear for each discipline? Some overlap heavily — gloves and wraps carry across boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai. Shin guards are the main addition for kicking arts.
How do I know what size to buy? Check each guide’s sizing section, since fit differs by brand. When between sizes, consider whether the gear breaks in or stays fixed.
