Hey friends, it's Lizzie! If someone you love has fallen for kickboxing, boxing or Muay Thai this year, the holidays are coming and you are about to search “gifts for boxers” and get a list of things they don't want. So here is the guide from someone ten years in: what actually gets used, what gets a real thank-you, and the one thing you should never buy for them without asking, which is gloves.
Why gloves are not on this list
Real talk: glove fit is personal. It depends on hand size, wrap thickness, how they train and what their gym requires, and a wrong pair sits in a closet forever. If you want to give gloves, give them the choice: a gift card to their gym, or a note with my Hayabusa code and a promise to pay. They'll pick the pair that fits, and you'll have given the one glove gift that actually gets worn.

The gifts that get used every week
- Hand wraps, more than one pair. A spare pair can be a useful gift, but check their preferred length and style first. Shop Hayabusa wraps and gear; check whether US code LILO applies to the items you choose.
- A mouthpiece with a vented case. Ask first: fit and the recipient's dental or gym requirements matter. A replacement case or a gift card is easier to choose if you do not know the right mouthguard.
- Shin guards, once you know their size. For anyone doing partner work, this is the upgrade they keep putting off. Ask what size they wear, or ask their training partner.
- Fight shorts that actually fit her. For the women in your life who kickbox: women's-cut Muay Thai shorts with built-in safety shorts. Mine are from Athena Fightwear, my code is SEALILLLY. Check the discount, delivery availability and shipping total for your destination before paying. Hayabusa's women's fight shorts are the other pair I wear a lot.
- A Hayabusa hoodie. Mine is the black-and-gray one with iridescent lettering, and I love it. Their apparel rotates, so check what's current, and like shorts, this one needs their size. More in the Hayabusa apparel I actually wear.
- A gym bag with a separate wet section. The difference between a bag that smells and a bag that doesn't. Look for a mesh section or a separate shoe compartment.
- A mesh laundry bag. Costs almost nothing, saves every pair of wraps they own. Pair it with the wraps.
The gifts for the training days
- Electrolytes for the bottle. A box of Cure Hydration packets is what lives in my gym bag for Florida-heat sessions. You can shop Cure Hydration and check whether code LILO applies to your order.
- A case of their pre-class drink. Mine is Celsius, Blue Crush specifically. No code: shop CELSIUS on Amazon. This goes to the Amazon brand store, so check the drink, seller and current price before ordering. Choose it only if you already know they drink it.
- Hair ties that hold. Teleties are my go-to. Stocking-sized and genuinely useful.
- A round timer. The apps are free, but a real gym timer for someone who trains at home is a lovely upgrade.
For the creator in the family
If they film their own training, the pod that follows them around the room changed my content completely. Shop Pivo and check the current pack contents, phone compatibility and any offer shown at checkout. The full story is in Pivo vs a tripod.
The gift that beats all of them
A month of classes, or a block of private lessons with their coach. Nothing on this page comes close. Ask the gym; most will sell you a gift card or a class pack, and the person who gets it will think of you every Monday for a month.
What not to buy
- Gloves without asking. See above.
- Headgear. Whether they need it is a conversation between them and their coach, not a surprise.
- A heavy bag for the house unless they've asked for one and have somewhere to hang it.
- Novelty boxing merch. The mug with the punching cartoon lives in a cupboard forever.
- Anything “as seen on TV.” If it promises to make them better without training, it won't.
Buying from Hayabusa: the one-order tip
Wraps, a mouthpiece and shin guards can make a useful kit once you know the recipient's fit and preferences. For the US store, check whether LILO applies to your items and compare the final total with any current sale. If you are shopping in the UK or Europe, use Hayabusa Europe and check code LIZZIE there. Everything I actually own from them is in what's in my gym bag.
A quick guide by budget
- Stocking-sized: wraps in their preferred length and style, a mesh laundry bag, hair ties, or a refill of something you know they use. Ask before choosing a mouthguard.
- A real present: shin guards in their size, a pair of women's-cut fight shorts, a gym bag with a wet section, a case of their pre-class drink.
- The big one: a block of classes or private lessons, or a Pivo Pack for the person filming their own rounds.
How to handle sizes without spoiling the gift
Ask their training partner for a starting point, then confirm the exact model, size and preferences with the recipient before buying protective gear. A glove's ounce number alone does not tell you whether it will fit their hand. Wraps also come in different lengths and styles. If you cannot check, choose a gift card or ask their gym about class gifts and any conditions.
Timing it around the sales
Offers can change around the holidays. Check whether a code applies to your items, whether it can be combined with the current offer, and which final total is lower. My Hayabusa discount code page has the regional links, but the checkout total is the one to confirm before paying.
🎁 The kit gift: wraps, mouthpiece, shin guards
For the US store, check whether LILO applies to your items and compare the final total with any current holiday offer. Confirm sizes and fit before ordering.
🥊 For the women who kickbox: Athena Fightwear
Browse Athena's Muay Thai shorts and check the features of the exact pair. Code SEALILLLY; confirm the discount, shipping and delivery terms at checkout.
Your Questions, Answered
What is a good gift for someone who does kickboxing? Wraps in their preferred length and style, a laundry bag, a refill of something they already use, or a block of classes can be useful options. Ask before buying gloves, mouthguards or other fit-sensitive protective gear.
Should I buy boxing gloves as a gift? Only if you ask first. Glove fit depends on hand size, wraps and what their gym requires. A gift card, or a note with a code and a promise to pay, gives them the pair that actually fits.
What should you not buy a kickboxer? Gloves without asking, headgear (that is a coach conversation), a heavy bag they have nowhere to hang, novelty merch, and anything that promises results without training.
