Hayabusa Perfect Stretch vs Captain Marvel Hand Wraps: How I Use Both

I own both Hayabusa Perfect Stretch and Captain Marvel hand wraps. One stretches, one doesn't, and here is how I use each, which I'd buy first, and why I rotate.

Heads up: I'm a Hayabusa ambassador and I earn a small commission if you shop with my code or links, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend gear I actually train in. 💛

Hey friends, it’s Lizzie! I own two pairs of Hayabusa hand wraps, and they could not be more different in feel. The Perfect Stretch does exactly what the name says. The Captain Marvel wraps have no stretch at all, and I still love having them. Here’s how I use both, and which one I’d tell you to buy first.

âš¡ Short on time? Perfect Stretch is the pair I would always put in my cart. Captain Marvel has no stretch, so it is my alternative to give my other pairs a break. Shop Hayabusa → Code LILO takes 10% off full-price gear, one code per order.

The short version

  • Perfect Stretch: stretches, exactly like it says. This is the pair I would always put in my cart.
  • Captain Marvel: no stretch. A nice alternative that lets my other pairs rest.
  • The big difference: the Captain Marvel can’t be wrapped as snug as the Perfect Stretch, because there isn’t a lot of give. When it’s wrapped right, it has good structure.

Perfect Stretch: does what the name says

There’s not much mystery here. The Perfect Stretch stretches, and that is the whole idea. It’s the pair I reach for and the one I’d always put in my cart if I was building a kit from scratch. If you only buy one pair of Hayabusa hand wraps, this is the one I’d point you to.

I want to be honest about how far my review goes. I can tell you how it feels and why it’s the pair I’d cart. I can’t tell you how it compares to every other brand of wrap, because I haven’t tested them all, and I won’t pretend otherwise.

Captain Marvel: no stretch, and still useful

The Captain Marvel wraps don’t have stretch. That is the first thing you notice and the thing that makes them different. I like them as a nice alternative, and mostly as a way to give my other wraps a break.

Because there isn’t a lot of give, I can’t wrap these as snug as I wrap the Perfect Stretch. That’s the one adjustment I had to make. When they’re wrapped right, though, they have good structure. So the trade-off is simple: you give up the stretch, and you get a firmer, more structured wrap if you take your time with it.

One more honest note: when I last checked, I didn’t see the Captain Marvel pair in Hayabusa’s store, so it may be a limited or older design. If you want that exact wrap, check their current listings before you plan around it.

Why I own two kinds

Rotation, mostly. I wrote about why I rotate my gloves instead of training in one pair, and wraps follow the same idea. A second style gives a pair a rest.

You can read my thinking on that in why I rotate my boxing gloves. And if you’re still deciding whether wraps are necessary at all, I answered that in do you need hand wraps under boxing gloves.

How to choose between them

This is how I’d decide, using only what I know from my own pairs.

  • You want one pair: Perfect Stretch. It’s the one I’d always put in my cart.
  • You want a second pair for rotation: a wrap with no stretch, like the Captain Marvel, gives you a different feel.
  • You like a very snug wrap: that’s where the stretch helps, and it’s why I can wrap the Perfect Stretch tighter than the Captain Marvel.
  • You’re new to wrapping: ask your coach to check your wrap. Wrapping well is a skill, and a coach can see your hands in a way I can’t from a blog post.

Where wraps fit in my kit

Wraps are one of the smallest parts of a kit, and I broke down my whole bag in what’s in my gym bag. If you’re building from nothing, my beginner equipment checklist puts wraps where they belong, right next to gloves.

Since Hayabusa works as one order, wraps are an easy add to a cart with gloves or shin guards, and free shipping starts over $85.
